frigia

Frigia is a small figurative painting about symbolism. The lioness with a hat on a stick is inspired by symbols of the paraguayan flag: a lion and a phrygian cap. The phrygian cap was - and still is- missued for a symbol of liberty although the original liberty-hat is the pileus cap. This anecdote made me want to play around with this misused symbol and reinvent it on a contemporary way, thus the use of a bunny-eared beanie.
